University of Mary Hardin-Baylor offensive tackle Nate Menkin (Sr., Lago Vista HS) has been named to the American Football Coaches Association's Division III All-American Team released today. Menkin earns AFCA All-American honors for the first time in his career and he becomes the eighth Cru player to earn a spot on the AFCA All-American Team. UMHB has now had a player selected to this prestigious team ten times in the last 11 seasons.

Menkin was one of the highest-grading offensive linemen for the Cru and helped clear the way for a UMHB rushing attack that averaged 291.0 rushing yards per game and 5.5 yards per rushing attempt. The Cru averaged 43.4 points and 451.6 yards of total offense per contest. Menkin also ranked among the team leaders in knockdowns during the season. He was voted American Southwest Conference Offensive Lineman of the Year and was also a First Team ASC All-Conference selection. He earned First Team All-South Region honors from D3football.com this season. Menkin is a two-time ASC All-Conference selection.

The AFCA All-American Team is selected by a panel of head coaches from across the country and it is the only All-American Team selected exclusively by head coaches. The AFCA has selected an All-American Team every year since 1945. Menkin is one of just three ASC players voted to this year's squad.

Nate is a tremendous student of the game as well as academically. Nate would spend a large amount of time in the film room studying his opponents and making himself mentally better. This helped to lead to his great success on the field. Former Division one players and NFL Europe player commented on his great ability to get to the next level and finish the plays with pancakes. Nate is a great learner and is ready to show that he can compete at the highest levels of football.
