Matt Moore took over in Week 13 and led the Panthers to an impressive 4-1 record to end the 2009 season.
Moore helped the Panthers to a win in his first start, playing efficient football, en route to a 16-6 win over the Buccaneers, and then followed that win up with a solid performance in a close battle with the New England Patriots which they lost.
A win over the Minnesota Vikings at home was his break-out game and caused some heads to turn, as he threw three touchdowns, no picks, and 299 yards in an impressive 26-7 win over the Vikings.
Moore followed that performance up with another three-touchdown effort against the New York Giants, and ended his five starts with eight passing touchdowns, just two interceptions, over 1,000 yards, and 98.5 quarterback rating.
He was named the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Month for December 2007 after completing 49-of-79 passes (62.0 percent) for 564 yards and three touchdowns with two interceptions to generate an 86.1 quarterback rating in three starts, including victories over NFC West champion Seattle and NFC South champion Tampa Bay.
He completed a career-long 57-yard pass to wide receiver Steve Smith versus Dallas (12/22/07).
Matt threw first-career touchdown when he connected with wide receiver Steve Smith on an 11-yard scoring strike versus Dallas (12/22/07).
He became the first Panthers rookie quarterback to start since Randy Fasani versus Tampa Bay (10/27/02) and the first Panthers rookie quarterback to win his first start since Chris Weinke at Minnesota (9/9/01) when he started versus Seattle (12/16/07) and led Carolina to a 13-10 victory.
