In April of 2014 I had the privilege to work out Mark Henderson at IMG Academy.. He was here for three days of field work... Here is my evaluation of Mark as a player...

Mark has a lean athletic body..carrying very little.. if any, body fat. He looks to have good size hands, and muscle development. The first thing you will notice about Mark is his gate as he is running.. It’s extremely smooth, which usually means he has been taught to run properly... obviously he has a track background and has been timed at sub 4.4 in the 40.  The great thing is he has football speed, to go along with the top end speed developed in track.

Mark also showed the rhythm to drop weight at the top of his routes..which makes it easier to get into and out of his breaks and create the valuable separation needed for the quarterback to throw the football. This is a natural trait that he came to me with... When I evaluate a receiver on his ability to separate from defenders I judge the overall rhythm of the said player, I then can determine what his upside will be, as far as creating separation from defenders with coaching the proper footwork. Mark grades out high in this category.

These things jumped out initially but the most important thing to me as a wide receiver is the ability to catch the football, naturally. Which Mark has been blessed with the ability to do. To be honest, most receivers on the professional level have this ability but what separates the men from the boys is the ability to make catches in acrobatic situations, without losing one’s balance, and wherewith all. Mark on numerous occasions in his workouts caught horribly thrown balls with ease and precision, staying up right..an continuing to gain yardage up field...

The last thing I found in Mark but the one I liked the most is his humble spirit, that allows him to be willing to learn, listen and try new and novel techniques.  Mark is extremely coachable..and is a joy to be around. He has a very good attitude and understands the plight of his situation..and how hard it will be to latch on to a professional team.. without the big name... or the eyeball test size....yet instil Mark continues to express that everything happens for a reason and he believes in his ability to perform at the highest level, whenever his time will come..

In review.. and in my opinion... Mark.... .only needs a chance to learn a system, and opportunities with the ball heading in his direction to showcase his talents, and succeed on the professional level.

Thank you

Coach E.G. Green
