Kyle is a remarkably talented punter who had seven years off in the middle of his career. He was the starting punter as a freshman at Oregon State in 2006, but after his freshman year he left the program and joined the Army in 2007 where he served until 2011. After his time in the Army Kyle planned to return to Portland State for winter term 2013 and asked for an opportunity to return to football; needless to say the offer paid off. In his two seasons at Portland State, he set school records for punting in a season (46.5) and a career (46.2).
