Scouts View:

Andrew has size and ability to play.  He has quick hands, feet, and speed to out rush the OT and G to wreck up the backfield.  Using the video to analyze Andrew, one could notice his abilities to create havoc in the backfield or on coverage.  He looks like a mix between Demarcus Ware, Justin Houston, Michael Strahan, but lighter like Randy Gregory 2015 #2 draft pick from Nebraska.  With the twist & swim moves and hands along with his weight gain he will be able to take on bigger guys at the NFL or CFL level.

Biography:

Andrew Mahan, known as a hidden jewel, which has dominated the NAIA conference.  His journey started at Dallas County High School in Selma, AL.  There he played both sides of the ball, in addition to having an outstanding senior year, leaving him a record of nine sacks that season.

Mahan’s collegiate career started when eight D1 schools offering to sign him. In February 2009, he signed with the University of Alabama at Birmingham.  At this point in Mahan’s career he played OLB 6'3 weighing in at 235 lbs. and running a 4.57.  He was scheduled to start his sophomore year, however, due to several academic setbacks he was required to join the NAIA conference.

This turning point in Mahan’s career instilled in him a form of discipline that has lead him to an impressive NAIA record.  Signing with Faulkner University, he achieved numerous accomplishments.  He was a two time All American, made first team all-conference, ranked fourth in nation with sacks and was Faulkner's all-time sack leader.  During his last season at Faulkner, he was nominated as defensive player of the gam.  He also received player of the game twice that season and left an impressive record, totaling in 23 sacks his senior season and 33 TFL in two seasons.

Despite the setbacks and naysayers, Mahan worked hard and continues to work hard to prove to scouts that he is worthy of playing at higher level of competition.  His size and playmaking abilities has lead him to signing offers with Canadian Football League (CFL) most notable teams and has also intrigued National Football League (NFL) scout.  Mahan is an underrated player.

Status:

Junior Year 2013: Edmonton & Toronto CFL- offered him contracts.

Senior year 2014: Denver, Buffalo Bills, Oakland Raiders, and Jacksonville Jags showed interest.  During his pro-day, but was underweight coming in at 213, however currently 235lb.

He signed a contract with the Calgary Stampeders and attended their 2015 rookie minicamp, however due to the cap on international players, the Stampeders released in July 2015.
