Shannon Valerio, MA, is an alumni of the hockey agent program at Sports Management World Wide. As a current family advisor and personal development coach with a focus on skating, she takes a holistic approach to client representation with a focus on the needs of the entire client. her clients, Shannon’s athlete experience began as an elite speed skater when she was seven years old, where she learned the needs of the developing athlete wanting to compete at the top level of the sport. She began competing at the age of seven and quickly rose to the national ranks. During her 20-year career in short-track and inline speed skating, she competed internationally, amassed 14 national titles and eventually landed a contract with a professional racing team. While in college, she took a hiatus to play hockey for the University of Denver Women’s ACHA club team, where she played under exceptional coaches, eventually becoming a player-coach herself. In 2010 she began training NCAA and professional hockey players off-ice part-time. In 2016 she formed Valerio Speed and Power Skating, working with elite athletes by sharing on and off-ice skating methods learned during her time as an athlete at the Olympic Training Center. Over the past 10 years, she has coached high school, NCAA D1 and Stanley Cup champions, combining speed-specific training with hockey tactics she learned as both a high-level player and a student of the game. She has helped advanced players to USA Hockey National Development camps, USHL and WHL draft selections, and NCAA commitments. In 2022, Shannon began to provide services as family advisor and consultant for high level athletes wanting to advance their careers to the collegiate and/or professional levels. Now an agent, she combines her decades of business management, hockey acuity and background as an elite athlete to provide both professional and personal support for her clients.
