Athlete Bio

Azusa Pacific: 2014- Played one season at Azusa Pacific under head coach Victor Santa Cruz as a defensive end. Appeared in 10 games and made six solo tackles, 21 total tackles, and 6 tackles for loss for 18 yards. In Azusa Pacific’s win at home (second game) over Dixie State, notched a pair of sacks as well as a batted down pass.

Oregon: 2011-2013- Played for two seasons at Oregon before transferring to Azusa Pacific University, under head coach Mark Helfrich as a defensive end. Appeared in 11 games and made six solo tackles, 12 total tackles, and 1.5 tackles for loss. In the Ducks' win over Cal, notched a pair of tackles

High School: Played three years of varsity football as a defensive lineman at Riverside Arlington High School under head coach Patrick McCarthy. Captained the team for two years. As a senior, recorded 10 solo tackles and 3.0 tackles for loss in just five games. Had 5 sacks his senior season. After losing seasons his first two years, led the team to a 10-2 record, including 6-1 in the Inland Valley League as a senior.

Personal: Born on July 9, 1992 in Sacramento, Calif. Parents are Tevita and Kalolaine Kafovalu. (Kah-Foh-Vah-Looh) is how is name is said. Has two brothers, Samson and Sunia. Has two sisters, Star, Lupe, and Mele. Samson, his brother, who was his high school teammate during his senior year, now plays football at Colorado University Boulder. David is majoring in general social science. Enjoys playing basketball.
