George Ameer

Dana Point, California, United States

George Ameer has spent more than 25 years in the sports media/production business. In September 2019, he left the Florida sunrises for the California sunsets in search of new adventures.

The majority of Ameer’s 18 years at the PGA TOUR was spent in the International Media Department. As Senior Broadcast Manager, he was responsible for the planning, organizing, and execution of multiple event productions, sponsor activations & content throughout Asia – Malaysia, China, South Korea, Australia, and Japan. Working with vendors, sponsors, and freelancers all around the world (many of whom he considers friends) enabled him to develop a skill set to handle all different personalities and solve problems no matter the country or time zone. He was in constant communication with PGA TOUR Entertainment and international broadcasters’ announcers and producers to ensure telecasts reflected the standards set by the PGA TOUR. In addition, he was responsible for the creation, distribution, and tracking of PGA TOUR commercials and content to assist clients in promoting TOUR events and initiatives.

As a result of developing and sustaining relationships with 35 plus broadcasters from around the globe, Ameer continually tailored his interactions to match clients’ business operations. His skill sets with contract negotiations, client communications, and interacting with a diverse group of people in a fast-paced and time-sensitive environment were always evolving.

At the 2012 PLAYERS, Ameer was responsible for setting up the inaugural ‘broadcaster village’ for international clients. This involved managing the setup and operation of the announce booth and telecast access for clients. In 2017, he enhanced the Village – trading in single-wide trailers for a 30x50 hospitality tent & purchasing eight Whisper Rooms for broadcast partners to commentate. The upgrade was a huge success and The ‘Village’ has become an integral part of PLAYERS week.

Prior to joining the International TV department, Ameer spent five years as a producer and editor at PGA TOUR Productions where he produced, wrote, and edited various programs, commercials, and videos designed to promote the TOUR and its players.

Born in Brooklyn, NY, Ameer graduated from Xaverian High School in Brooklyn. He attended and graduated from St. John’s University in Jamaica, NY with a BS in Communications. He spent six years with Black Canyon Productions in New York as an associate producer earning a Sports Emmy for an HBO Sports Special entitled “Fields of Fire: Sports in the 60’s”. He then relocated to Chicago and worked as a sports producer for WFLD (Fox Chicago), an editor and producer for Towers Productions, and as an advertising producer for Sears prior to relocating to Florida to join the PGA TOUR.
