Glenn Dale, Maryland, United States
After graduating from Howard University in Washington, DC. with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree majoring in Accounting. John began working in Corporate America for Fortune 500 companies as a tax professional for nearly 13 years and currently works as Senior Tax Auditor for Government of the District of Columbia.
John also attended University of Maryland University College where he earned a Master of Science degree in Accounting & Information Technology. He strongly believes an education is a key to self-empowerment and a catalyst for sustained success in the workforce and any entrepreneurial initiative.
Enrolling in the Sports Management Worldwide athlete management course in 2006, John learned the ropes of the industry and the role of an agent through the mentorship of Dr. Lynn Lashbrook. Prior to the NFLPA “runner rule”, his role with the company as an agent advisor entailed identifying and recruiting “diamonds in the rough” suited to play in the NFL, contacting NFL front office personnel about potential prospects, assisting in the creation of athletes’ highlight tapes, finding the proper training program to assist athletes for their NFL pro days and assisting in the overall draft process.
After obtaining his certification in the Canadian Football League (CFL) in 2007 as a certified contract advisor, he negotiated several player contracts, gaining the experience that would later serve him in the NFLPA certification process. In 2013, John ventured out to become an NFLPA Certified Contract Advisor and within one month of obtaining his certification, John formed his own agency, GHG Sports, Inc.
He remains connected to Sports Management Worldwide as an affiliate and co representation. As CEO and Owner of GHG Sports he continues to build his agency into a premiere athlete representation firm with a good ethical compass that athletes and their families can trust.
John believes an agent should be committed to understanding the scouting community and having a good knowledge base of what teams look for in an athlete.
John serves on the ecclesiastical board and is an active member of his church. He strongly believes that in order to enjoy the full riches of Jesus Christ in life one must walk by faith and in the principles of the Word of God in order to reap any promise or blessing from God. As a result, every true believer in Christ can “Give Him Glory,” even in the world of sports. He resides in Glenn Dale, Maryland with his wife and three children.
