Will I get to tap into your extensive sports network if I take this course?
At SMWW we have a vast resource of faculty and sports executives. As a student, you have access to all the previous alumni, most of who are working in sports. In addition, many of the instructors will introduce you to their network. Graduates tell us, that our network alone is worth the price of the course! The sports business community is small and SMWW has a great reputation. General Managers in all the major leagues speak in our classes and at our conferences. We constantly find hidden opportunities in our network that set us apart from our competitors. We have very high ethical standards. "Who we know", opens a lot of doors in a lot of ways.
What if I have issues with technology or have homework questions?
We have two offices that answer student service questions in two different time zones. M-F, 8am-5pm in both the UK and USA. Our headquarters office is in Portland, Oregon, the USA where a majority of our staff works, and then another office in London, England. Our staff loves helping people and enjoys helping you achieve your goal of advancing your sports career. I can't decide between two courses. How do I decide which one to take?
Both! One-third of our alumni end up taking at least one more course because they love the coursework and see the value. Many students have taken 5 or more courses! You get a discount on your second, third, and fourth, etc. course. Please contact our offices and we will assist you in choosing which course you should take first. If you register for more than one at a time, our registration system will automatically calculate the discount. Call for more details.
I took a course back in 2003, am I still eligible for the Alumni Discount?
Yes! Any SMWW Alumni can receive a $300 discount.
What if I get behind in class?
Life happens and our courses are flexible. We offer complimentary extensions and if you want to do a completely new 8 weeks, we can carry forward the homework you have done, for only $200.
How do the live video chats work?
Our live interactive video chats are done via Zoom. Zoom is used by lots of businesses for meetings so it will help you in your career to feel comfortable with this format. All you need is an Internet connection – including mobile users! You will be connected via audio and depending on the course, instructors share content from their computer which lets you see the same things at the same time – like PowerPoint files, Word documents or even browse the web together. Each chat is approximately one hour. You can hear them, ask questions and go around the room with input and feedback. Our students find this is their favorite part of the course! You will get to know your mentors and fellow students. Keep in mind, growing your network is important to your success in the sports world!
How much homework is it?
First of all, realize it doesn't feel like homework…this is your passion! Scouting games, broadcasting games, growing a fan base when it is all sports-related it's really not "homework!" All our courses are adult learning so it is up to you how much time you want to invest! For some of you with full-time jobs and families, you want to do the least amount of work for the biggest return on your investment. For others, you want to take every moment you can to maximize the learning opportunity. Some students will invest an hour a week, while others want to spend 5 hours a week. It also depends on the course you are participating in. We prefer to call it self-paced.

Who creates how the curriculum is designed?
Our mentors. They know who is doing the hiring, when they are hiring, what jobs are available, and what the hiring personnel looks for in a new hire. Each 8-week online course is designed with the end in mind. Courses are very hands on. We want you to know how to do what teams are hiring you to do. These courses are not your typical, traditional college courses. Our goal is for you to gain employment in a career you have a passion for.
What percentage of your students work in sports after taking one of your courses?
Many students already work in sports and are looking to work their way up the ladder faster or enhance their knowledge at their current job. Some take a course to maneuver from one sport to another sport. A few students take the course for an elective credit at their university or for their graduate degree. The students who take any of our courses specifically to get a job will greatly enhance their opportunities. SMWW courses give you a very marketable skill set in the field and great references to utilize when applying for jobs in the industry.
Do you guarantee jobs at the end of the course?
No, and neither did your college or university! However, if you fulfill all the course requirements, add your new mentors to your references, and add your new skills to your resume the way we recommend, and you perform your informational interviews the way we require, your job offers should increase! Keep in mind, your previous educational background, job history, and ability to move are important factors that are out of our control. In addition, by participating in our courses, our mentors will help you focus on realistic job opportunities. Ultimately, our goal is to give you all the tools we can to assist you with the process.
How much are the courses?
At the bottom of each course page is the fee. Shipping is additional. Courses are generally either $1,195 or $1,950 each.
How do the payment plans work?
Courses that are $1,950 can be paid in 3 monthly installments of $650. Or you can do 2 monthly installments of $975.
Courses that are $1,195 can be paid with 3 monthly installments of $399. Or you can do 2 monthly installments of $599

Will I get a return on my investment?
Everyone who takes our course has the opportunity to see a return on their investment. You could attempt to get a job on your own before taking any of our courses. But keep in mind, our courses will shorten the time it takes you to secure interviews and generate more job opportunities than you would have without taking the course. In the end, if by taking our course, you secure employment one month faster, then that is one month of income more than you would have. For some of you, you will realize your career goals aren't aligned with the job you would have taken. We have saved many students wasted money from getting law degrees they didn't need, or taking jobs they wouldn't succeed in or be happy doing.
I am a sports management major, will these courses benefit me?
Your sports management major will help you get a job, but when speaking with team hiring executives it doesn't give you the tools they are looking for in a new hire. We offer the what you know and the who you know. You will get a job faster and advance faster with any of our courses.
Do you offer job placement?
We are not a job recruiter company, therefore we don't guarantee job placement, but we do guarantee job placement assistance! Your chances of getting a job after the course are exponentially greater
What is a Sports Management Worldwide Certification?
Successful graduates of the Sports Management Worldwide courses will be sent an SMWW Certificate of Accomplishment. This certificate represents not only your achievements in the course but also demonstrates your personal commitment to self-improvement and the ability to "self-train" yourself for higher positions within the sports business industry. In addition to your certificate, you will be given the stamp of approval by SMWW. This approval includes a personal reference you may add to your resume with contact information for Dr. Lynn Lashbrook and a reference from the mentors of this course.
What happens at the end of the course?
Our success is your success. You have to do the work to get a dream sports job. We will give you all the tools to achieve your goal. But in the end, you are the one who has to follow thru with everything the course includes. We want to write our next success story about you! This being said you are now a part of the SMWW family and you will maintain support and networking capabilities with your instructors, peers and our staff!
My parents think this is bogus. What do I tell them?
At SMWW we love parents. Your parents are being conscientious consumers and teaching you to be careful about what you invest in. We have all made purchasing mistakes on the internet. They aren't telling you not to do this, they are teaching you to do your research before you break up with your hard earned money! Have them call SMWW President Dr. Lashbrook. He will explain the program and your parents will understand! Dr. Lashbrook and many of our Sports Career Counselors are parents. Parents are important!
Do you offer Military discounts?
YES! For those individuals who represent their country in military service, we offer a discount. Can I get a tax write off for taking this course?
For US citizens, SMWW course tuition, books, and supplies can be used for education tax credits. Save your receipts and consult with your tax advisor on how this applies to you.
Do you offer financial aid?
We do offer payment plans. In addition, if you are currently enrolled as a student and receiving financial aid from your school, you usually can use your current student loan by requesting higher amounts.
