He is JBA’s President & CEO and is stepping in to “substitute” Mentor. We couldn’t be more excited! John has over 35 total years of experience as an MLBPA Certified Agent and a Registered Athlete Agent in the state of California. He has guided countless players through their careers. John graduated from American University, and in 1983 was named VP of Garvey Marketing Group, a sports marketing company founded by former Dodger and Padre great, Steve Garvey. John left in 1986 to form JBA, and has since negotiated nearly $1 billion in MLB contracts. Clients past and present include Tony Gwynn, Cole Hamels, Ichiro Suzuki, Shane Victorino, Broadcaster Bill Walton, MLB Managers Dave Roberts, Mike Matheny, and Adrian Gonzalez, and so many more! SMWW Director of Baseball is currently an active MLBPA certified agent with over 30 clients. Oscars clients include MLB players such as Armando Reynoso, Elmer Dessens, Ricardo Rincón, Francisco Cordova, Juan Castro, Joakim Soria, Ed Vosberg, Dennys Reyes and Oscar Villarreal to name a few.
In addition, Oscar has sent various players to Asia, including Balvino Galvez, long time star for the Tokyo Giants, Japhet Amador, Karim Garcia, Julio Franco, Domingo Martinez and Carlos Baerga. Suarez has a Masters in Accounting from the University of Denver and has managed the sports agency Suarez and Associates for over 26 years. A native of Havana, Cuba, Oscar brings passion and enthusiasm to all his students interested in becoming a baseball agent. Oscar is passionate about helping students who take this course fulfiling their dream to recruit and represent professional baseball players.

Agent Advisors are agents-in-training who co-represent all SMWW Agency athletes. For a small yearly fee, an Agent Advisor can recruit and represent athletes on behalf of Sports Management Worldwide and share in any commission fees paid to the company by clients successfully recruited by the Agent Advisor.

Weekly Interactive Zoom Video Chats: A unique aspect of each 8-week course is the opportunity for students to participate in weekly, interactive zoom video chats with fellow students, John Boggs, Dr. Lashbrook, Oscar Suarez, SMWW mentors, SMWW agents, certified agents in all sports, professional athletes, and renowned guest speakers. This is a tremendous opportunity to network within the professional and collegiate sports industry by getting to know your instructors and fellow students personally via the Internet. This allows ample opportunity to network, ask questions, and discuss aspects of the course openly with instructors and classmates. The interactive zoom video chats are available via any online computer with a microphone. If you are unable to attend the chats, they are archived and you can listen at a more convenient time. These chats are so popular that graduates continue to come back and participate to enhance their opportunities.
