12/12/10 - 2010 ALL-SUN BELT CONFERENCE SECOND TEAM (COACHES): Thomas Majors (WKU, Sr., LB), has been selected All-Sun Belt Second Team for the 2010 college football season as selected by the league’s head football coaches and a media representative from each institution. Majors posted a team-high 105 tackles on the year, giving him over 100 stops on both his seasons at WKU. His 8.75 tackles per game rank fifth in the Sun Belt, and tied for 48th in the Football Bowl Subdivision. He finished with no less than six tackles in a game this season, and had double-digit stops four times. The Nashville, Tenn., product recorded a team-best 14.5 tackles for loss, which was third in the conference and tied for 34th in the FBS. His 4.5 tackles for loss against FAU tied for the most in a game by a Sun Belt player this year. Majors one of just two Hilltopper defenders to start all 12 games on the season, and his effort helped lead the Hilltopper defense to fewest yards allowed per game in Sun Belt Conference games this season. Majors is the first Hilltopper defensive player to earn all-Sun Belt honors in the two years they have been a part of the league. - Western Kentucky football

 

2010: Named WKU’s Defensive Most Valuable Player after leading the team with 105 total tackles…Also earned Sun Belt All-Conference honors after ranking fourth in the conference in tackles…Helped lead the WKU defense from last in the Sun Belt in total defense in 2009 to third in 2010…Started all 12 games at linebacker…Posted 100 total tackles for the second consecutive season…Led the team in tackles in five different games

 

Game 1 at Nebraska: Recorded a team-high seven tackles, five of which were solo and one for a loss. Added a forced fumble.

Game 2 at Kentucky: Posted seven tackles -- four solo and three assists and one for a loss.

Game 3 vs. Indiana: Posted a team-high nine tackles, including five solo with 2-1/2 tackles for a loss of two yards.

Game 4 at South Florida: Recorded a team-high 10 tackles including six solo and two for a total loss of nine yards. Recorded

his first sack of the season for a loss of eight.

Game 5 at FIU: Recorded eight total tackles, including seven assisted tackles. Also had half a tackle for a loss of one yard.

Game 6 vs. ULM: Recorded seven tackles, four of which were solo. Tallied one tackle for a loss of four yards.

Game 7 at Louisiana-Lafayette: Led the defense with 10 total tackles, six of which were solo. Recorded one pass break up.

Game 8 vs. North Texas: Recorded six tackles, four of which were solo. Also recorded a pass break up.

Game 9 vs. Florida Atlantic: Led the team with a career-high 15 total tackles, eight of which were solo. Recorded 4.5 tackles for a loss of 13 yards. Added a pass breakup.

Game 10 at Arkansas State: Tallied six total tackles, including four solo and one for a loss of three yards.

Game 11 vs. MTSU: Tallied nine tackles, five of which were solo, including one for a loss of four yards.

Game 12 at Troy: Tallied 11 total tackles, including nine solo.

 

2009: Earned Third Team All-Sun Belt Conference honors as a linebacker by Phil Steele following the 2009 season...In first season on the Hill, led WKU with 101 total tackles in 11 starts from the linebacker position...Posted one interception, to go along with three tackles for loss, one forced fumble and three passes defensed on the year...Intercepted a pass in the season opener against Tennessee, while collecting five tackles and a pass break-up...Finished second on the team with nine total tackles in the home opener in week two against South Florida, as well as forcing one fumble...Led WKU with nine tackles the following week against Central Arkansas...Led the team once again in week four at Navy, posting 14 total tackles...Had one tackle for a loss, to go along with 12 stops against Florida International in the Sun Belt Conference opener in week five...Notched nine stops in a week six home contest against Louisiana-Lafayette...Finished second on the team with eight tackles on the road against Middle Tennessee...Led the Hilltopper defense with a team-high nine tackles, including one solo stop for a loss...Had one quarterback hurry and seven tackles in week 11 against Florida Atlantic.

 

JC/HS/Misc: Lettered all four years of high school in football, earning The Tennessean’s 2006 Defensive Player of the Year award and a member of the Dream Team...Qualified as a finalist for Tennessee’s Class 4A Mr. Football award...Named the All-Metro Defensive MVP and the All-Region 6-4A Defensive MVP...Played two years at Northwest Mississippi Community College, starting two years at linebacker and earning Second Team MACJC All-State and All-Region XXIIII Second Team...Named Defensive Player of the Week four times during his freshman and sophomore season...Led the team in tackles his sophomore season and recorded 112 total tackles in his career, with one interception and five sacks…Named team MVP and First Team All-State in 2008.
