Scouting Report:

Scout: Derek Brennan – D_Brennan82@hotmail.com – 706-992-2899

BODY/ATHLETICISM: Solid frame, prototypical size. High energy and athletic player on both ends of

the floor. Has good court vision and a good IQ on where to be on either side of the ball. Has shown some

length and elevation in his game, needs to utilize his physical tools more. At his age though will be

difficult to maintain and play at that level consistently going forward.

SHOOTING: Aggressive shooter/scorer, spot up shooter and versatile scorer. Has shown he can knock

down the outside shot as well as a variety of mid-range to inside scoring ability with an array of head

fakes and ball pumps to create space. Downside is he has bad shot selection and inconsistent in his

shooting. Main example would be when he spots ups for a shot, he shoots straight up, now when he is

either shooting off the dribble or creating space from a defender, he tends to fade. So there is definitely an

inconsistency in his game and I can’t tell if it is a mental thing, physical thing or just a natural part.

Basically, he tends to make more baskets when he fades oppose to when he spots up. Career average

FG% is around high 30’s, most shooters tend to shoot around that number but Williams could easily

improve it. Solid FT shooter, good mechanics but could be a little more fluid in his release.

POSITION OFFENSE: Definitely a wing, does not handle the ball or run the offense much or at all, he is

able to play within the offense though. He knows when to set picks and then roll in or out, willing passer

like I said he plays within the offense does not demand the ball every possession. Can tend to stray or sit

out on the three point line, a lot of versatile wings will do that though. Decision making is questionable at

times which can be fixed by establishing patience, let the play develop.

DEFENSE/REBOUNDING: Athletic guys tend to strive on defense, like Williams he plays hard, he is an

aggressive defender and will take the ball away from sloppy ball-handlers. He is very good at seeing and

playing the passing lanes for steals as well. Career 5.5 rebounds per game and has averaged five or more

boards a game seven of his eight seasons playing. Has a good nose for the ball and motor to go after loose

balls.

MISCELLANEOUS: His career averages are 13.8 PPG, 5.5 RPG, 3.1 APG, and 1.8 SPG in eight seasons

and he had his best statistical season with the Grizzlies at 16.6 PPG, 5.3 RPG, 4.0 APG, 3.4 SPG. He can

do it all for a team and with better coaching and better structured learning will help Williams find a place

somewhere where he will thrive.
