 #1 Deryn Bowser Los Angeles, CA. Washingto Prep, Los Angeles Harbor College, University of Akron. Played two seasons at Los Angeles Harbor College and will have two seasons of eligibility with the Akron . Deryn was on his way to a huge season, but he fractured his leg in week six at buffalo. Despite not playing in five and a half games, Bowser still leads the team with five touchdowns receptions for 2009. Prior to the injury, he ranked as high as second in the MAC and 19th in the NCAA in scoring as he was responsible for five of Akron’s first seven offensive TDs. Bowser started the season catching three passes for 63 yards at Penn State, including a 40-yard touchdown for Akron’s only score. (He beat Nick Sukay) The following week, he hauled in eight passes for 86 yards and three TDs versus Morgan State, scoring the first TD in the InfoCision Stadium history. He closed the three-game run with three receptions for 86 yards versus Indiana, including an impressive 49-yard TD. Last season Bowser’s team-high 64 receptions rank sixth on the UA single-season list, while leading the team with 785 yards. He was named MAC East Offensive Player of the Week for his highlight-reel TD at Kent State on 4th-and-11 with a minute and a half to play, putting Akron up three.
