FIU:

One student-athlete who has made the most of his opportunity has been senior Armond Willis (New Orleans, La.) who Friday took numerous reps with the first team.
Willis was a walk-on in 2007-Cristobal's first season at the helm-and last year, played in all 12 games with eight starts. He ended the season strong, with a career-high six tackles against ULM, came back with four more stops in the Shula Bowl at Florida Atlantic and finished with four tackles, including one for a four-year loss, in the finale versus WKU.
According to Coach Cristobal, Willis has picked up right were he had left off.

"[His emergence is] one of the best college football stories of the year," the coach said. "He is explosive, strong and fast. He's a leader and a good person who his teammates what to be around. Armond is also a very good student who has earned himself a scholarship by playing very good football for us.
"He is assignment conscious and is using his hands well. We are expecting some real good things from Armond this year."
