I was born on November 23, 1955 in Gilmer, Texas, where I still reside.
I graduated 9th in my high school class of 109 at Gilmer High School in 1974, with an overall average of 92.206. I attended Kilgore College in Kilgore, Texas, pursuing Sales and Marketing interests. I have also done online education including Element K Management courses in 2001, and just completed my MBA in Marketing in mid-February of 2005.
My entire career, with the exception of 3 years that I spent as a credit union loan officer, has been spent in the sales, marketing, and management. I have been a Regional Marketing Manager for Olan Mills Church Directories for the last 7 years, after having been a marketing representative with the company for more than 2 years prior to being promoted into management.
Although I was born and have spent most of my life in the small town of Gilmer, Texas, I have traveled the U.S. extensively, and have lived in both Dallas and Houston over the years. I frequently joke that I was a city boy who was born in and prefer to live in the country. While I realize that some may feel I am not in touch with athletes from metropolitan areas, I don’t agree with that. My past travels and experiences have educated me to the realities of big city life. I feel that my down home experiences during the formative years actually give me an advantage over some agents. My goal is to provide integrity and honesty to the athletes I represent, and I feel the values I learned in rural Texas only help to make that goal even easier to accomplish.
I am excited to be associated with SMWW, and look forward to serving the needs of athletes moving into the professional arena with honesty, integrity, and dependability. My father taught me that a man is only as good as his word, and if you betray that word, you lose your character and have nothing left. I want to always be remembered as a man of character, as that is what I am all about. | |
